Wikis vs. Blogs

I believe the most significant difference between blogs and wikis is that wikis do not have a particular author or owner in comparison to blog. Blogs are also becoming a popular instrument for companies to get feedback from the customers or just get closer with their clients like does Walmart (Barbaro). Even though both of the platforms can contain inaccurate information, the public knows in most cases who is the owner of the blog. On another hand, it is harder to track who posted the wrong information on Wiki. According to John Suttler, "In January, for example, Wikipedia entries about Ted Kennedy and Robert Byrd falsely stated both U.S. senators had died." (Suttler) Posting this kind of information on the platform can really hurt the reputation of the person.

I would say it is hard to use blogs for a collaboration and Wiki is a better tool. I think Wiki is a great platform to use for groups for brainstorming if people are working remotely. This way everyone can see each other ideas and develop or add more things to each of them. I think both Wikis and Blogs are great ways of communication, they just meant to be used for different purposes.
